Adding missing applications

If an application is missing, start a wiki page for it and fill in the template. (Additional information about using the template is linked in the howtos on User:TTTBot.)

I have added the word "adding" to this title, because everyone thinks that it's just about noticing their absence otherwise.
The comment in the table should obviously point to the above instructions. Indeed I didn't find them before adding this to the page:

Legend for the table

Hi, I just landed on this table page and it seems to be lacking a legend, what does the column "monitor" indicate in the main table? Further down the page I see a new table with "monitoring features" which explains sub-features but the "monitor" column with yes/no is still pretty vague what it indicates. --Christoffer (talk) 07:54, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

MapDroyd

The "Vector rendering" column for MapDroyd claims that it does 3D rendering. Can someone point to an example of that? As far as I have seen, as of today, it only does 2D rendering of map content. I can't really see what would be 3D; I downloaded the map of Hamburg, which appears to have some elevation info in OSM-3D, but nothing popped up (so to speak) in MapDroyd. -- Dandv 23:57, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Uploading traces from Android 2.2

With Android 2.2, it's possible to upload traces to OSM straight from your Android device. By default, however, there's no way to select your .gpx file for upload; the upload dialog in the browser only pulls up programs for selecting photos, videos and sound files. Open GPS Tracker

Sort

how it would be, to make one big Table and use the sort funktion of the wiki? the rows price and licence can be used to find free or not so free SW. aditional rows i would like to add is "editing".

yes this is the way we do it on all other lists. AFAIK user:Tordanik splitted it up to get the same look&feel as before. If you prefer one single table, this shouldn't be a problem. --!i! 13:11, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Total caching

Hi, I'm a real Newbie here, but I think a sort function should include a "Total Caching" option.

There are a glut of low cost (approx £100UKP) Android Tabs coming on market that have no built in 3G Modem, but have WIFI and GPS. These would be great if we could cache an entire country's OSM data (similar to my old SatNav) and then not need to worry about Wifi Hotspots.

This would also be great when travelling abroad and Data costs go sky high.

So what do you suggest exactly? I dont see any differences to the current Map Display tables :/ --!i! 10:58, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Mapdroid

Mapdroid is not the core of AndNav2 as far as I know. It's just a toy project / proof-of-concept. It should be marked as such (probably "proof-of-concept") but I don't know where to edit the data used by the bot when updating the table. Tedp 16:58, 29 March 2011 (BST)

So which are best

So far i've tried two apps on my brothers HTC wildfire. GPSmid didn't seem to provide any instructions on installing the maps. Navit I managed to get installed and displaying maps but performance became unusuable as I zoomed out and seemed very focused on "satnav" type operations.

So which of the apps on this page are

1: actually usable on a low end smartphone like the HTC wildfire? 2: offline 3: decent for use as an on-foot mapping application

I would recommend OsmAnd (use latest build from osmand.net!), ZANavi, ForeverMap ... tell us if you like or dislike them. --Stephan75 16:57, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately this "Android" page is still essentially useless as it stands (or at least, no more useful than a web search for "openstreetmap" and "android"). This has just come up again on the help site at https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/53872/welche-app-ist-die-offizielle-von-openstreetmap . What's needed is a curated page that explains (for _current_ apps only) the good and bad points. --SomeoneElse (talk) 15:43, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Androzic

Latest version is 1.4 already. Supported languages are: English, German, Bulgarian, Finnish, Dutch, Polish, French, Turkish, Czech, Spanish, Italian, Hungarian, Russian. It downloads map tiles from internet. It has customizable log interval. It can send current position via SMS and upload current position. Everything else should be 'No' so far. And where can I upload screenshot?

I see you have found and edited the Androzic already. The bot has updated the tables since then, so they should be up to date now. --Tordanik 20:29, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

osmAnd licensing

In 2014, they added an "exception of GPL" rendering the program proprietary (it essentially restricts the redistribution, if not effectively forbids it at all); in any case, it isn't GPLv3 any more; I think the entry needs updating. Ineiev (talk) 10:22, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
