Similar to reservation=*
Hello, I have the feeling that this key is very similar to reservation=* ?? The wiki page describe it as a key to specifies reservation is required/recommended/not possible... for an amenity, tourism attraction etc...
The reservation=* is much more used, and it would be easier for the mapper if we have only one value, why do we need more than one key to describe this feature? --Kazing (talk) 12:43, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- reservation=* is indeed much more used. I wasn't aware of it however and I think I did once ask on IRC what to use and was recommended booking=*. I'm not sure what to do now. --Hjart (talk) 12:55, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- I recommend that we deprecate booking=* and use reservation=* instead. It appears to be correct British English (though both can be used in some situations, as in reserving/booking a hotel room by paying in advance), and reservation is used much more frequently and is probably easier to understand for speakers of most other languages. Also, reservation=* can certainly be used for features like restaurants, where booking=* would not make sense. --Jeisenbe (talk) 12:10, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- I'm okay with deprecating this one --Hjart (talk) 13:23, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- I'm okay with deprecating this one, too. Shall I do this? --Lukas458 (talk) 14:16, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- I deprecated the tag but it was undid by user marc marc becuause he said some values like "booking.url" were not covered by the key reservation=*, but "booking.url" was not even described or just mentioned on this page ?! --Lukas458 (talk) 11:01, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- I have improved the "current usage" description. I'll lunch a thread on talk mailing for a mecanical edit booking=yes|no|only|required|recommended in favor of reservation=* Marc marc (talk) 11:05, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. So we will follow it there, I think that's fine. Then you can ignore what I wrote on your discussion page (maybe I will remove it soon, because we have it here and then on tagging mailing list). --Lukas458 (talk) 11:11, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- no one objected to the automated edits, I did it yesterday Marc marc (talk) 16:34, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
