Turn into redirect
Outright duplication of content on the wiki is generally a bad idea – it increases the maintenance burden and very easily leads to different pages drifting apart as only one of the copies is updated later. There's also a wiki guideline cautioning against duplication. In the case of roof:shape, the key is already well-documented on Simple 3D buildings in the proper context. There can be situations where some duplication is acceptable due to the benefit it offers, such as with translations, or in cases like Key:building:material where the full list of values is too long for a summary page. But this particular page is pretty much a straightforward copy of content already available elsewhere. I would therefore ask that it be turned back into either a link to the Simple 3D Buildings page, or (my preference) a redirect to that page. --Tordanik 18:21, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- What about keeping it in state like at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Key:roof:shape&oldid=1883913 ? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 19:09, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- While it's not my first preference, I would be ok with it. I can see how it might be seen as less confusing because it makes it clear how to edit the infobox for Taginfo and such. --Tordanik 19:27, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- That was my plan. Maybe add also explicit note "do not add content here, edit linked page. This is better as it avoid duplication"? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 19:51, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- Good idea, I'd be happy with that! Let's give User:Jeisenbe time to respond, though, as his changes would be the ones affected. --Tordanik 21:00, 17 August 2019 (UTC)t

- I agree that it would be better to revert to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Key:roof:shape&oldid=1883913 rather than to redirect, but my understanding is that "de facto" and "in use" keys should be documented primarily at their own Key: pages, rather than only being included in a general page like Simple 3D Buildings - reading the later page, it is not clear if it is a proposal which has been put into the main wiki namespace, a description of actually used tags, or a mix of these (I believe it's a mix of proposed and de facto usage?), while it is generally understood that a Key: page with status "in use" or "de facto" is documenting the actual, real-world use of a key or tag in the database. Probably I should have edited the page more to meet this standard.
- So, rather than redirecting the page or partially blanking it, how about we change the identical parts to a template and transclude the same text in both places? This would remove the maintenance problem. It would make the wiki a little more complex, by adding a new template which needs to be added separately. --Jeisenbe (talk) 05:36, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Globes
The globe in e.g., w:Foxconn in Wisconsin is, yes, a dome. But that's just (the upper) half (of the) the story. Do mention how to map.Jidanni (talk) 07:28, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
Half gambrel / Skillion gambrel
How do I add a half gambrel roof? As in a roof that is similar to skillion, but with two different angels. --Christoffre (talk) 13:23, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
