Template talk:Generic:Map Features:natural
natural=hill
You should not add a tag that is not clear what is its meaning. You can read on the wiki page:
The difference between natural=hill and natural=peak is not clear, and the classification might be contended.
Only a small number of features hills have been mapped, compared to natural=peak and tagging has not settled on a consensus.
Maybe we need a discussion about the status of this tag. --geozeisig (talk) 06:57, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
- Border between natural=hill and natural=peak for some objects is not clear, but meaning of natural=hill is clear Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:35, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
- Some definitions would be good?
Hill=A small portion of the earth’s surface elevated above its surroundings, of lower altitude than a mountain. Generally its altitude is less than 300 metres above the surrounding country but this can change in areas of low relief.
Peak = A prominent point of a hill or mountain. The separately named summits on a range of hills or mountains.
natural=dune
Henke54, why did you remove natural=dune? --Jeisenbe (talk) 22:06, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
Looks like the mapper wants to create landcover=dune however I think dune is a land form not a land cover. Raising issue on the tagging list. Warin61 (talk) 23:16, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

natural=blockfield
Is it maybe too early to add natural=blockfield ? It seems to not be really discussed and is rarely used, maybe own tag page is enough for now? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:26, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the pointer, I just translated that into German. It is also already included in Template:Landcover, so I see nothing against including it here as well. --Rohieb (talk) 22:34, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
