Quezon City has informal administrative districts that are used in addresses. Although informal and approximate (some district boundaries can be extrapolated through existing boundaries or features like roads or rivers/creeks, like the case of Santa Mesa Heights), their boundaries fall on admin_level=8, like the city designated districts.

Examples include Tondo (in Manila), Cubao and Diliman (in Quezon City), Grace Park (in Caloocan), Jaro (in Iloilo City) and Talomo (in Davao City). City administrative districts in the Philippines resemble the 5 boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island}}. Pasay has so-called districts, like Reclamation Area ("Bay City"), San Rafael, San Isidro, Don Carlos Village, Malibay, Villamor, Domestic Area, and the like, but are unofficial city districts, and are usually omitted from addresses.

Naming rules
- Remove Province from the province name. The only exception to this rule is Mountain Province
- Remove Barangay from the barangay name. The rule also applies to numbered barangays.
- Remove Sitio from the sitio name, except when "sitio" becomes a part of the common name used by residents.
- Leave Purok as is for numbered ones, but for named ones, it can be left or removed, on a case-by-case basis.
