Discuss Tagwatch here:

Good overview of which tags are really used

great idea. Your site give a good overview about which tags are really used by a wide range of people.

Maybe we can change the "voting process" for the tags that appear on the Map feature page based more on your stats rather than try to vote for it. --Etric Celine 14:31, 7 October 2007 (BST)

You can reference tagwatch statistics as part of your argument :) Logictheo 08:32, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Entire planet?

Is there a reason this cannot be run for the entire planet instead of specific regions?

If it cannot be run on the planet, can someone host an Australian version?

And South America - Atleast Brazil --Skippern 02:20, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
We can run the software so it generates a statistics list webpage. A problem might be where to host this information, as well as all the things we need to know to generate these statistics. Logictheo 08:35, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Does this mean : No other countries will have Tagwatch pages ? (Tunisia) --Chdoula 03 September 2009

sample shape

Instead of the current hexagon i propose some other shape with at least one open end to see the line caps rendering, area and a node with same tags in same picture (eg rotated "6", with one node tagged the same) --Stefanb 14:46, 7 October 2007 (BST)

ok, i do realize this could mean a problem for rendering an area, such as coastline, so maybe there should be a more detailed view with several separate tiles per feature:
  • node - .
  • way - I
  • area - O
  • way with bridges and tunnels (with 0.5 relations) - 8
  • area with way - Q
  • ...
and preferably rendered at several (all >12 ?) zoom levels. --Stefanb 22:37, 19 October 2007 (BST)
something like you can see on Slovakia tagwatch sample --Dido 10:52, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

run automatically?

This is really useful. How about running this automatically at a regular interval? Robx 10:53, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

common tag combinations

rendered samples of some common tag combinations should be also interesting to see how is what rendered and as a side effect to spot some rendering error (incorrect osmarender rules)

This will be supported by my changed version of the Tagwatch script. Either as dynamic rendering from the combination list or through the "useful combinations" entry in on the tag pages. Just don't know when this will happen, as I will be in Paris the next two weeks. --Etric Celine 11:22, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Newbie user guide

Could a simple user guide be made, on how to use the tagwatch site? Logictheo 12:03, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Updates stopped?

The permanent tagwatch.stoecker.eu pages tell that the last updates have been in 19 November but there's no information as to why or for how long? Seems it happened around the same time the "whole world" link was added to the area menu. Alv 16:46, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I emailed Dirk about this a few days ago. He says "No data from OSM wiki can be loaded and thus the whole script fails. And I have currently no time to find the real cause and fix it. Help is welcome. The script is in SVN." I've tried to take a look at it, but it's not been fruitful thus far. --Gregoryw 17:22, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
The problem was that the user-agent from the MediaWiki.pm was blocked in the wiki. I've talked to Grant Slater and he unblocked it again but in respect to the serverload the script should not parse the wiki between the peak times (8:00-23:30 GMT). So if you want to run this script regularly please do this in the night or make extensive use of the cache. --Etric Celine 14:12, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
14 December 2008, it seems that the script is back to work. --ilrobi 11:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Still problem with OSM wiki pages? No refresh from 21 January 2009. --ilrobi 09:35, 10 february 2009 (UTC)
Since 23 January 2009, to be more precise. I contacted the maintainer, Dirk Stöcker, about this issue yesterday and he replied, that there is currently an error while executing Tagwatch (perl) script, but he had not time to investigate it by now. Any help is appreciated. The script code could be found in the OSM SVN repository (link see Tagwatch wiki page). I'll give it a try as soon as possible. If anyone else is (going to) work(ing) on it, announce it here, please. However, remember to do testing after main traffic as well (see note above). --Hasienda 23:44, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Skript running again now, saw data updated yesterday morning. Thanks. --Hasienda 01:00, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
I have again the error "Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at libs/constructHTMLStats.pm line 1054" --ilrobi 13:44, 1 march 2009 (UTC).

Seems to have stopped again - suspicion falls on the 0.6 API transition (particularly as all the links fail, but manually editing api/0.5 to api/0.6 seems to work...)--Tms13 17:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

surveillance

Heyho, why does man made=surveillance not work? Thank you, Conny 08:14, 20 September 2009 (UTC).

Escaping

For links to the xapi-querry, the following characters should be escaped: | [ ] * / = (cf. XAPI#Escaping. Otherwise, Keys with such values as "30km/h" can not be downloaded directly. --T-i 16:24, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Historical data

is it possible to get some historical data, e.g. amenity=pub count for each month in given region? --MichalP 12:25, 4 September 2012 (BST)
